Low magnesium Hydrated Lime, also known as Calcium Hydroxide.
Ideal for cold water pasteurisation of straw for growing species such as Oyster mushrooms.
Hydrated Lime pasteurisation works by rapidly raising the PH level to 11-13, which kills the majority of competing microorganisms present in the straw.
Use approx 175g per 100L of water. Soak straw for 12-24 hours for optimal pasteurisation.
Due to the extremely alkaline nature of Hydrated Lime, it is recommended to wear gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection when handling, as it is extremely irritating to the eyes, lungs, and skin. A Product Safety Data Sheet is available upon request.
